Quick & Easy Pumpkin Shaker Tutorial

Hi Friends!

I am know in my house as the “activities director” as I tend to be the one who plans vacations, experiences, and crazy family fun. I have been known to take my kids on the Amazing Race, get them white water rafting, and create detailed codes for holiday scavenger hunts. Well….something that we do sometimes is a surprise vacation and if you have never done this, I highly recommend it! Basically, we convince the kids that we aren’t going anywhere or doing anything exciting while secretly planning a little vacation adventure.

A few years ago, we surprised the kids with a trip to Disneyland for their Halloween celebration for Fall Break. I wanted to document this trip in a special way and hadn’t found that “perfect” thing just yet so the photos sat waiting for my attention. Do you ever do that with pictures and memories that are just so precious to you? Well…this fall, Simple Stories released the Say Cheese Halloween collection and I was hooked. I had found that “perfect” thing. (*Make sure to check out the supply links below!)

I combined the Say Cheese collection with a really fun pre-cut fall pumpkin cut file from the shop and some amazing SpiegelMom Scraps sequins (Orange Orange and Grape Juice). Using a pre-made cut file to create a shaker pocket is super fun and easy. I created a little tutorial to help you create one too! Here’s that video….

Easy, right?!?! Then, I went ahead and used a few accents from the Say Cheese Halloween Collection to finish up the patterned paper layers and embellishing. It was a great way to start out Halloween adventure pages and something just a little different to celebrate our fun!

Here’s the video showing how the rest of the layout came together……

I hope that you feel inspired to create some Halloween memories and then document them in fun ways. Does anyone else just love Disney this time of year especially? Maybe it’s time to plan another little surprise getaway….

xoxo,

Khristina

Here’s a SUPER quick and easy card that I created today for World Cardmaking Day using these fun cut files. I will be back later this weekend with more using some of the other sizes as well.

cut file card 1

I started out with a blank card base and envelope and then cut a black piece of yardstick to 5 1/2 by 4 1/4 to fit on the front panel. I used my Silhouette to cut the card front which I trimmed just a little smaller than the black cardstock base. Next, I cut a white piece of cardstock to fit the exact same size as the cut file panel I wanted to use.

I grabbed my Distress Oxide inks and a blender tool (the new ones from Scrapbook.com are AMAZING and don’t leave any edge marks at all. You can find those by clicking here) I just created a diagonal rainbow effect on the white cardstock and it was SO SUPER quick and easy. I backed the word “hi” in the cut file with black cardstock to help it really pop on that rainbow background.

FInally, I added dimensional adhesive dots to the backside of the cut file itself in order to create some extra dimension. I really love how that panel looks completed popped up off the background and it makes for a very striking card that I was able to create in seriously less than ten minutes!

I hope that you enjoyed this quick and easy card for World Card Making Day and I would love to see what you create with these amazing cut files. Make sure to grab yours today before they aren’t free to download anymore!
